With the rebrand of my site, I wanted to create more self portrait. Since I’ve collected Photoshop tutorials over the years, I decided to start a new project called 50 Shades of Sam, a collection of Photoshopped self portrait. For each self portrait, as a challenge, I used the same photo while recreating them in as many different variations.

The first set, I wanted to learn as much as I could from various tutorials I found online. Below are the images and the links to the tutorials I followed.

Shade 1: Shattering

I found this tutorial a long time ago and have always wanted to work on it but have had a hard time finding a subject to work with.

Shade 7: Cassandra

This tutorial reminded me of Cassandra from Doctor Who. Moisturize me!

Shade 8: HyperSpace

I didn’t follow a tutorial for this. I was aiming for double exposure but never got it to look the way I wanted so I kept it as is.

Shade 9: Volcanic

This was an incredibly long and almost un-fun tutorial. Much of the jpgs were missing so I had to improvise a lot to get the look I wanted.

I had high hopes for this one but I botched most of it up. Next time, I’ll spend more time planning it out.
